Hippo’s Circus – released 25 June 2026 available to purchase from Amazon Digital
One time, a colleague defected to a rival group they had previously claimed to dislike. The circus was in town and I somehow projected the theme onto the blameless carny folk. Recorded in early 2026, without the aid of a safety net, Hippo’s Circus is the third single from the forthcoming album ‘Silent Avenues’.
Infused with delicious pop and folk sensibilities, Hippo’s Circus draws inspiration from the melodic songsters of the 1970s and 80s. Andy, June 2026

Although originally recorded in the 90s,’ ‘I Can’t Sleep’ first appeared on the 2010 Soft Cotton County album.
The analogue files were recovered recently from quarter-inch tape and the digital stems handed to Justin without him having heard the original. Consequently his remix, with many additions, is a reinvention in a different musical area, like a beautiful stranger in a strange land. Andy, June 2026

Based in and around Richmond-Upon-Thames, classified as Indie, Dream Pop, Shoegaze or Futuristic Folk by some North American radio stations, our friends will tell you Soft Cotton County has a few additional colours in the mix that can sometimes transfer to other delicates.
Created by Andy Coombs, primarily as a vehicle for his song writing, Soft Cotton County is a long-running recording project. Since 2009 and the eponymous album on 5000 Records, there have been five EPs – all met with critical acclaim. And now, finally, a second album, a project started in 2014, interrupted more times than a PM at the dispatch box, we give you ‘10 Years of Travel,’ ta daa!
